Ordover Gallery

I went to the Ordover Gallery at San Diego Natural History Museum, open every day till 2010 10am-5pm. Here’s a cool fact it was founded in 1874 it’s the oldest in southern California. It sure did not look like the oldest. The 4th floor was really bright white with the nice sky view. But the gallery was very neat a lot of inspiring photographers were there like Octavio Aburto, Pilar Artola, Miguel Angel de la Cueva. I really enjoyed Miguel Angel de la Cueva landscape images very cool, he shows many detail in his work with close up shots and his long shots with a wide range of a landscape is very clear, I really like how he can bring out the dark blue skies with his images. If you’re looking for inspiration this is the place to come and much more.

Book, book, and books

I really enjoyed the book Japanese tattoos by Julian. Because I can really related the images that each tattoo showed, with in my japanese culture. Each tattoo gave a story, and even a symbolic meaning. The use of color was really nice, the shot were real and detailed. What really sticks to my mine was a image of one of the guys, well it a half body shot of a guys back and butt, the butt even had tattoos, and yet that image still haunts me. Getting stab with a needle on the BUTT. uhhh yummy? Sick book Julian.

Wrestling Photographer

The film was somewhat interesting, it did show something new about photography and masculinity and femininity. How society portrays what to pose like and what pose is different.

Junkyard Book

•October 28, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Last weekend went to the junkyard with my cam and tripod. When I got there, they denied my entree with my camera and tripod. They told me that I would need permission to take photos from the owners. They gave me the owners contact info. I did contact them and got a voice mail. Did not get a phone call back.

Googled junkyard arts and a photography named Mike Moats came up. He recently did a book called “Tiny Landscapes” which his images were close shots of auto junk, which are very inspiring to me. The close up and how the image is taken is amazing. Each image of that scrap/junk part whatever you may call it, has its mystery story behind it. It is amazing what mother nature can do over a period of time.

I decided to do a Junkyard junkyness, What I will be doing is taking everyday junk you see around and putting that into art, some will be stationary art and man made art. The location I decided to go to is close to home in Oceanside. Its just to caption and focus on a single part of anything in the junkyard wether from cars and electronics.

An American photojournalist and war photographer showed more then millions of views of his work through photos from 1991-Present of what war has done around world. I was kind of sick to my tummy, I just ate and some of the images were graphic. Which I did not know. Yikes. Its kind of a wake of call that how the U.S got it made, then the third world countries.

The photo below made me realize that it kind of looks like a third world pic aftermath battle, and that if we can get attacked then war can happen just anywhere.

A place I miss.

I picked this book, because I really like the landscape of the mountains and clouds and the city view.
